The Savior made an infinite atoning sacrafice so that if we have faith in Him, repent, are baptized, receive the Holy Ghost, and endure to the end, we can receive forgivness of our sins and enter and follow the path that will lead us to eternal life in God's presence(see 2Nephi 31:13-21).
Imagine this is you as a child with the Savior...he knows you personally. He knows you by name. He loves you. He pleads for you. He leads the way that you may follow Him.
